WiFi Is a Human Right

Buffering during a crucial video call is now classified as a war crime under domestic law.

The Dynasty's General Assembly (an aggressive internal monologue conducted while the router buffered for the ninth sequential time in an hour) has passed Resolution 001: The Universal Declaration of Wireless Rights. Article 1 states, without any ambiguity:

"Stable internet access is a fundamental, unalienable right of all citizens. Any packet loss or interruption lasting longer than 4 seconds constitutes a gross violation of basic human dignity."

Black Wednesday

This resolution was provoked by an incident we now officially refer to as "Black Wednesday." A catastrophic 47-minute total internet outage occurred right in the middle of a video call. The client was mid-sentence about their quarterly projections.

My camera completely froze in an expression that can only be described as "deeply confused but attempting absolute confidence." The client now genuinely suspects I have an undiagnosed medical condition.

Technical Assessment

Extensive technical investigations have isolated the primary domestic threat to our digital sovereignty: the router. Current operational status:

  • Age: Indeterminate. Relic-grade.
  • Location: Jammed next to a thick concrete wall, hidden behind a bookshelf.
  • Performance: Officially classified as a plastic box of broken promises.
  • Landlord's assessment: "Perfectly functional."
  • Dynasty's assessment: An electromagnetic dead zone actively powered by pure spite.

Countermeasures Deployed

  • A generic Wi-Fi extender was purchased. Plugged in. It immediately began extending absolutely nothing.
  • The IT department (me, watching a 144p YouTube troubleshooting video because the connection flatlined at 720p) has officially recommended a complete infrastructure overhaul.
  • National budget for said overhaul: $0.00.

Emergency Protocol

In the interim, the Dynasty has forcibly established a backup communications protocol: tethering to the phone. This absurd solution runs up approximately $4 per hour in data overage charges. It is considered a grim wartime measure only.

The Dynasty maintains that stable Wi-Fi is not a luxury. It is the absolute bedrock upon which our fragile civilization rests. Without it, we are merely people sitting in dark rooms. Staring at drywall.
